Primary School Talks
(With and Without a Dog)

Service Description:

Empower and educate your class with our engaging primary school talks, designed to promote safe and confident interactions with dogs. Delivered by a Welsh speaking Kids Around Dogs (KAD) approved professional, who is also qualified to teach humans as well as dogs. Our sessions are tailored to meet the needs and language preferences of your students.

Service Overview:

Our comprehensive two-session program offers both theoretical and practical learning experiences, providing a complete understanding of dog body language, interaction practices, and responsible pet ownership.

Session Details:

• First Session: Theoretical Learning

  • Duration: 1 hr

  • Content Tailored by Age:

    • Understanding dog body language

    • How to approach a dog safely

    • Where and how to touch a dog

    • Picking up after dogs (a popular topic!)

  • Interactive Methods:

    • Age-appropriate presentations

    • Group discussions

    • Engaging activities and visual aids

• Second Session: Practical Interaction

  • Duration: 1hr

  • Hands-On Experience:

    • Demonstrations of scent games with the dog

    • Fun dog training games

    • Identifying specific dog body language

    • Depending on age, children can:

      • Stroke and feed the dog

      • Volunteering opportunities to learn a dog trick

Our Journey:

We recently experienced the heartbreaking loss of our beloved school dog, Eddie, who passed away suddenly over the summer. While this has been a challenging period, we are excited to welcome a new puppy into our family soon. Ash, a little black cocker spaniel pup, will be trained to continue Eddie’s wonderful work, bringing joy and learning to students through our primary school talks.
